הסבר

How an argument is organised

Many short arguments follow four moves: claim → supporting evidence → opposing view → answer to the opposing view.

Signals

Opposing views are often introduced by reporting phrases: Critics argue, Opponents claim, It is often said. The writer's answer often begins with However, Yet, Nevertheless.

Implied attitude

Writers do not always say I think. Look at evaluative words, quotation marks around a word ('improvement'), so-called, and contrasts between promises and results.
