תשובות לתרגול
- had been waiting
Answer: had been waiting. The waiting continued up to a point in the past (the bus arrived), so we use the past perfect progressive: had been waiting.
- would learn
Answer: would learn. An imaginary present situation uses the second conditional: if + past simple, would + verb.
- will be announced
Answer: will be announced. The results do not announce themselves; someone announces them. Future passive: will be + past participle.
- was
Answer: was. In reported speech after a past reporting verb, the present usually moves one step back: am → was.
- that
Answer: that. For a thing (the app) we use that or which as the relative pronoun. 'Who' is for people.
- getting up
Answer: getting up. After 'be used to' (= accustomed to) we use the -ing form: used to getting up.
- can't
Answer: can't. 'Unless' means 'if not': if you do not register, you cannot enter.
- have been banned
Answer: have been banned. 'Since 2017' links the past to now, so we need the present perfect; bags are banned by someone, so it is passive: have been banned.
